Are you tired of repetitive tasks, like saving 100 images for web in Photoshop CS5?
Every day I have to save a lot of images. I used to open each image in Photoshop CS5 and save for web one by one. However, I noticed that I was wasting my time; if the images are similar and all of them need to be saved for web, why not to create an action that automatically saves my images? In this Photoshop tutorial we will learn how to record an action to speed up the saving process, and how to use it with the Batch option. Let’s get started!

We stand behind Server Intellect and their support team. They offer dedicated servers, and they are now offering cloud hosting

STEP ONE:
Go ahead and select a folder with images that you need to save for web. If you don’t have one you can download my images folder at the end of this tutorial.
I used the following images provided by www.jonjamesphotos.com:
Step One

STEP TWO:
Select one of the images and open it in Photoshop CS5. We are going to use this image to record and save the steps we usually take for saving images for web.
Open the ACTIONS palette (Window > Actions) and click its Create new action icon:
Step Two A
A New Action dialog box will appear, enter “Save for Web” as its name, and set any Function Key.
Step Two B
Click Record.

Notice that the red record icon turned on:
Step Two C
We can start recording our action now.

We moved our web sites to Server Intellect and have found them to be incredibly professional. Their setup is very easy and we were up and running in no time.

STEP THREE:
Save the image for web as you normally do.
I need my images with a Width of 630px, so I went to Image > Image Size and entered a Width of 630px.
Just in case, I checked out the color mode of my image. I went to Image > Mode > RGB color.
Finally, I went to File > Save for Web & Devices and saved my image as a JPEG of Very High Quality.
Step Three

Click Save and close the file with your image.

STEP FOUR:
Within the ACTIONS palette all the steps you took to save the image were recorded:
Step Four
Click the Stop icon to stop recording.

STEP FIVE:
It is time for the fun and easy part! We saved one image for web, but we have more images that need to be saved for web. We can open each image in Photoshop CS5 and apply the action one by one, or use Batch to apply the action to all the images within our folder.
Obviously, Batch is the best option if you want to speed up the process and save time.

Go to File > Automate > Batch. The Batch dialog box will appear, there you can choose the saved Action we created and choose the folder of the images that we need to save for web.
Step Five
Click OK and relax while Photoshop CS5 saves the images for you.

Thanks for reading and I hope this tutorial has helped you!
